DETAILING OF 'BLOX' + DESIGN PROCESSES
Once the concept was chosen, it was time to determine the practical side of the product. First, the number of tiles and the types had to be determined. After consulting with Arne’s math tutor, a few key concepts were identified to include:

To accommodate for the differences in sizes between the operators (e.g. a summation is larger than a number), a size system was determined. To figure out what size would be the best, the following was laser cut from wood, to get a feel for the sizes:

The aspect ratio is based on the aspect ratio of ISO paper, to ensure that any half size block would fit sideways in the larger block with double the area.

After cutting the wood, we decided to proceed with size C: a full height of 6cm.

The block system needed to include at least these concepts, as well as all numbers and enough letters to accommodate relevant equations.
